Why is my the area above my rooster’s butt pink? No other chickens have this.

We have 9 birds (8 hens and 1 rooster). They have a 6x6 coop with 4 roosting bars inside. They have layer pellets, we give oyster shells and grit once a week, and we also provide leafy greens, tomatoes, and leftover fruit every now and then. The run is 25x25 feet so plenty of space to roam...

No other chickens have this ailment. I see the hens pecking at this area on him every now and then. Is this something to be concerned about? No blood, no abnormal behavior.

    Lady or Gent?

Very cool! I got her from Tractor Supply and Co. One of the two we originally got died :( and so she is our only Cinnamon Queen now. She was very friendly when she was younger but now she does not like to be held or touched. She only comes close to us when we are handing out treats or food...

    Lady or Gent?

Probably the best photo I have on me right now. The rest of her are when she was younger. She is at the top of the roost bar. She does not like to be held like the other chickens :(. She only gets close for treats. I can try to take more photos tomorrow!

    Cocks or hens?

5 roosters for sure! TSC is infamous for not sexing properly. i also noticed they keep pullet and straight run chicks in the same container which drastically increases the odds of getting a rooster since the employees just grab em and throw em in a container for you. I would wait for the...

    Is Sylvie actually Sylvester?

Yup, rooster. The legs are bigger and the comb and wattles are more developed which is a good sign of a roo.

Roo or a Hen? You Decide!

Hello All, We got this Rhode Island Red (RIR) from rural king back in April. It has grown a lot but its comb and wattles are far more developed than any of our other chickens. It has not crowed yet but we strongly believe it might be a cockerel for the following reasons: 1. It is very...
