Just how docile could I expect a black Australorp rooster to be?
I had 10 pullets with no rooster. They were all so sweet. One thing I did was to be quiet around them and not let them hear chicken noises, etc. if at all possible. Black Australorp source recomendations
I hope you found your australorps. I ordered 10 from Tractor Supply last October. They began laying at about 24/25 weeks. I only kept 3 since I live in the city and did not want to 'over do' it. They have not been around other chickens, so they only hear my quiet voice and no other chicken...- bigjohn

They smell so bad
Simply buy some cheap top soil from big box stores and spread a bit on top each day. It will keep flies to a minimum and keep most smells at bay. And it creates wonderful garden soil. -
What Incubator is best for Quail?

Least stinky quail feed
I have raised my few coturnix for 3 weeks now on Manna Pro feed. They have done well and the smell has been manageable. I purchased some Nutrena gamebird feed (all I could get) and the smell is horrible now. It is 28% protein. What is the least 'stinky' poop producing feed that is available? -

Help!!! Girls viciously attacking males
My solution to these problems is to take offending bird and clip a small portion of their top beak with fingernail clippers. It does not hurt them and will keep them from killing the other birds for a few weeks til it grows back. Normally it puts a complete stop to the problem with that bird. -
