    Possible insecticide poisoning...

She start showing these symptoms at the same time my 2 cats started having issues. There is no blood in the poo. Only today did she show any signs of weakness by stumbling. I'm pretty sure it is poison as it didn't happen until after my hubby sprayed insecticide around the house just before...

    Possible insecticide poisoning...

I have a pullet that appears to have been exposed to insecticide. She has become lethargic, stopped laying over a week ago, reduced appetite. She isn't egg bound as her body has become very thin and I don't feel any eggs in there. I gave her some yogurt with scratch mixed in yesterday. Today...

I believe the flour or corn starch absorb some moisture and bond together to allow clotting. It allows the blood to clot without a great loss of blood. It works in place of platelets that may not be able to anchor to the wound edges to start creating the clot. So, in essence, you are providing...

See, this just proves what a noob I am. I didn't even know there was a flock raiser formula. I will probably be switching to that when the 50 pound bag is gone. I want to try feed from pbjls when I can get out there.

For what it's worth (since I'm a noob at chickens) I think giving all of them layer would be fine. Consider this...if these chicks were raised by a hen they would eat exactly what she eats, bugs, grass, and crumble. I think most chicks that eat what mom eats grow up just fine, so I wouldn't...

She was purchased and brought home March 1st. She is on medicated starter still and will be for a while since I have a 50 pound bag for the 5 chickens. After giving her some of the electrolites and probiotics she is moving more, seems more alert, and was eating the oatmeal, yogurt and scratch...

OK folks!!! I need your help!!! This is Red. She came home on March 1st. She is the smallest in the pen. She holds her head close to her body as you can see in the pic. She is slightly puffed up. Her crop is almost empty. She is walking very slowly. Offered her plain oatmeal and blueberry...

OK, so this morning the DH and I went to a friends to look at fencing they used for a sheep pen. She is moving out of the houe into a Senior Living community and wants us to have the fencing. So...... Now the DH is talking about using this fencing to create a pen area for the birds. We will...

Thanks. I know that just the two of them together she seemed to pick on the white one, but now that there are 4 of them, she seemed to constantly chasing everyone. I was sad to separate them, but it seems the best thing now. This morning the 4 in the pen were very calm. They are walking...

Good point. I was going to do a "post chick" cleaning on the bathroom where the 2 were until the pen was ready. Guess Niqui is going back in. Thanks everyone for your input.

I have the option of doing an isolation pen within the bigger pen for Niqui. It would allow Fluffy to not be stressed because Niqui is gone, but also not allow Niqui to chase the other birds around the pen. Any thoughts on trying this method? My GF used this method to break her broody hen.

I was wondering if that would work. My concern is for Fluffy that is so attached to her.

Hey peeps. I need some advice. As you saw in the pictures I posted I have an EE roo that is a sweet boy. That being said, he's already henpecked by Niqui the Dominique I got from Walady94. Niqui is a very confident girl, and goes about her day with gusto. Fluffy, however, just runs around...

Ok, with so many seeing boy here, and I hate to agree but I do as he doesn't have the fluffy butt the girls do, and the vent appears to be smaller and shaped differently. So.....is anyone interested in an EEer roo in exchange for an EEer pullet? He is about 7 weeks old. Very social and hasn't...
