Duck is sitting on hen eggs. any concerns I should be aware of? She was a great momma to 5 ducklings last year but all my male ducks got taken by predators last fall. She has decided to sit on some chicken eggs and refuses to move off of them.
Will she hatch them and raise them as her own?
I moved them all to the chicken tractor today. It is 4" wide by 8" long so should give them more room to get away as well as distracting them with a new environment. Hopefully that will be enough.
also it allows my older hens a chance to see the new chicks without touching for awhile.
I had 10 chicks in my brooder area. yesterday I noticed one girl being mean to the others. She would pull a feather from one of the other chicks and run around the brooder carrying it while the others chased her. She didn't seem to be picking on any particular one so I dismissed it as play or...

I gave her some oyster shell to free choice from but she doesn't seem very interested. Should I try the calcium citrate or just let her eat the oyster shell as she needs it?
edited to add that she is laying perfect eggs and seems to be very healthy.
Do I need to add anything to her diet? Calcium? She is eating all flock and a big selection of fresh greens and mealworms as well as any bugs she can catch.
To answer the original question.... The problems I have found with prefab coops are 1) not enough room, I have 12 full sized chickens 2) flimsy construction and faulty design, ie....little or no ventilation/ not predator proof 3) hard to clean and 4) way too expensive.. Why Spend that...
