5 month old Cornish Cross laying EGGS! Safe?

Quote: They're always cold when we find them even though they're probably fertile. The Roo do like his lady! But I have to wonder with them both being Cornish Cross, what kind of bird it would be... They're not even supposed to be able to reproduce I thought.

5 month old Cornish Cross laying EGGS! Safe?

Wonders never cease! We started out with 6 Cornish Crosses thinking they were Leghorns and were sadly disappointed when they turned into B52 bomber chickens. They started dying off around 4 months, seemed like one a week, but the last two are a male and a female who are very large but seem...

Hen Making Squawking With Every Breath

I have a 4 month old Cornish Cross (i know, i know, we lost a Roo the other day at 12 pounds - didn't know what they were when we got them but have tried to just let them free range eat mostly to keep them alive as long as possible) that "seems" to have something stuck in her throat, maybe. She...

4-5 day old chick wings down, listless Help!?

We got 16 RIR chicks Wednesday and all are fine except for one female who stays in the center of the coconut fiber nest I made them, under the heat lamp. Her wings hang down instead of being tucked and she just stands there with her eyes shut all the time. Eats and drinks a nibble or a sip...

Laurie's Silkies : Here's the number for purly poultry: 920-472-4068, the owners name is Tyler; tell him Laurie Matson sent you. Laurie! I can't thank you enough! If you sold them, i'd buy from you! My husband is as disappointed as i am. We put a lot of energy and time into these chicks...

4-5 week old chick can't stand up

Thanks, Laurie. I'm incredibly disappointed right now! They really seem to have slowed down some in their growth since going on pasture and bugs, so maybe we'll wait it out. Desperately wanted some laying hens though. I guess if they start dropping dead we'll have our answer. Might just take...

4-5 week old chick can't stand up

Wow. I did a google search on the cornish cross and DANG! looks just like them! We thoght they were leghorns for sure. So does that mean thry are meat chickens? We really wanted them for eggs! Is there some type of genetic thing that would cause the weak leg on one of my girls? We were just...

4-5 week old chick can't stand up

Just last weekend my husband had to do the deed. She was getting worse, her left side leg didn't work at all and she didn't get around much without a lot of flapping and hopping. She ate pretty well and her poop was fine, she was just pretty much useless. We had to pick her up to put her in...

4-5 week old chick can't stand up

Thanks Cristina, we're still working on their permanent coop but today we plan to build something semi-perm because their brooder coop is just getting tooooo small. Not possible right now to separate her out, but other than seeming to be drunk or just weak, she's acting like a chicken. Snatched...

4-5 week old chick can't stand up

As an update, I've got her outside now and she seems fine except that she "seems" intoxicated. My husband is holding her and he says her legs keep tightening up and stretching backwards in his hand, almost like a cramp. He rubs the thigh muscle and it loosens up. Help?

4-5 week old chick can't stand up

I'm new to chickens and we got 6 chicks from Tractor Supply about a month ago. don't know where they came from, so don't know any history. All are doing well, but one of them just today was acting weak and unable to stand when I went out to check them this morning. (oddly enough, I dreamed that...
