    Humm interesting. I've had chickens all my life and still do here on the homestead,I never wash my eggs and if I do have to them they are in the refrigerator. If not they go in a basket on my kitchen counter.

    Sorry to hear about the loss. I've thought about that when setting up my all my livestock and what I came up with is a radio. I keep it on all night and have never had a problem. Knock on wood.

    Is this good bedding for chickens?

    Here on the homestead I use pine shavings in the winter they have about 10 inches of it. I'll also toss in a couple flakes of straw. Has worked fine for years now. I'll throw a hand full of meal worms in their, the girls love it.

    Cool is it a mini lop? The others grow quite large. Make a great pet, watch out for the hind feet they will leave a nice wound. I have new zealand and cailf for meat. I also sell bunnies now and then. Good luck! You might find some good info on my site about rabbits.

    Good for you! No animal should be kept in a cage. I've worked in the meat industry for 40 years and it is not a pretty thing, but do to egg production thats the way it is. Happy to hear you rescued them.
