Thats disgusting. I hate buying chicken now, makes me feel guilty...It ought to be illegal not to have them free range - or any animal for that matter. Apps with my recent tick experience Afro was really slow and when she first got sick, she isn't as 'in your face' as the other two or as active anyway but she had slowed down so much that i could pick her up and put her back in their run... Mogvgb your description of your bantam had me so giggling! Afro is home! She is currently out the front garden (enclosed) in isolation and eating away! Thank you everyone for your lovely comments about Afro! I love this section as everyone is so warm and nice! I called this morning and they said she has improved, she is walking about a bit so I can call back later to see if she can come home today... Well, I called the vet this morning and Afro is still alive which is good...they don't expect to see a proper improvement until Monday/Tuesday. It was a paralysis tick, and quite big. I am totally obsessive with the dogs and ticks - they are on Advantix every two weeks and also the peppermint...- Blondiechic

Mine are laying - I have three silkies all laying an egg a day (yeah!) and of my three big girls I am getting between one and two a day - my Molly seems to still be finishing her moult...she is also the less nosy of the girls and a bit dim but I am putting that down to the moult... My neighbour has her chickens and ducks all together as well - they free range and hang out in two different groups - I see them when I ride past...sometimes the ducks all run along and so make me smile...funny things. She does have them sleep in different sheds though.- Blondiechic

I have a Gold Laced Wyandotte too, but she is the least friendly of my girls - she came from a family with children so I thought she would be ok, but she would rather creep around and watch over coming over to inspect and hang out with me. She is also supremely dim when I want to get them back...- Blondiechic

I am not a fan of bantams, in the past they wanted to roost in the trees rather than coming to bed which left me chasing them around the garden and climbing trees to get them down - the big girls move slower so are easier to shoo about, and greedier so go to bed for a snack! :) Do quails have...- Blondiechic

Sorry to hijack but my sister just sent this to me - I didn't know if anyone was down in Victoria? If the girls were up here I would have a couple like a shot...my grand plan is for a Chicken Rescue one day, but in the meantime this place is doing a fabulous job - its urgent to get the girls...- Blondiechic

Id like some geese but my husband is scared of them! As for peacocks, they are on my list too for when I have my own farm, I do know they move about though as we used to keep our horses in Duffys Forest and someone (we never know exactly who!) has some peacocks who just wandered about from...- Blondiechic
