So little chick seems to be doing fine, very snuggly little babe. The yolk sac has shrunk a little but I’m betting it’s going to dry up and fall off. Thanks for all the help!
Thank you! Unfortunately, the poor baby was the only one to hatch of its clutch so it’ll be staying with four ducklings once it’s healed. The ducklings are only a day or two older so hopefully it’ll go all right. Thanks!
Hi all! So I had a little chick hatch just this morning on its own and it seems to have a little unabsorbed yolk sac. I’ve put some Neosporin on it to keep it from getting infected. I figure it’ll either dry up and fall off or finish absorbing but wanted to make sure. Thanks!
Update: So he is still alive, but still not very coordinated. I’ve been giving him shots and I’m hoping that the brain bleeding has stopped by now. I just tube feed him for the first time. He hasn’t eaten since Saturday and was feeling very light. The poor Duck is still pretty darn sick, but he...
Alright I’ve got a new one. My duck has either had a stroke or got a bonk on the head. It’s sounding more like he hit his head and is bleeding into his brain. The vet said that he flinched when she touched it. I’ve been given some shots to help stop the bleeding and that should hopefully kick in...
Thank you! He wasn’t with any other drakes, I’d separated him and five girls for breeding. All the other girls are fine so far so I’m assuming it’s something he ate. And recently he escaped his cage well I was away and I came home to find him wandering about so it could’ve been then to. He made...
Yes this morning was the first I noticed any problems. I did actually put him in a different pen recently. As far as I know nun of the other birds seem to be having trouble. If it is poison is there anything that can be done at this point? Thanks so much for the reply!
He pooped a little just now, is seems to have a greenish color but barely anything. He has also been keeping his neck like this because he can’t hold it up.
Hello everyone! So this morning when I went to get the ducks my runner drake was acting off. He is stumbling around and seems to not be in control of himself. I’ve got him to drink some hen boost water but I can’t get him to eat anything. He’s about 4 years now and has never had any illnesses...
Hello everyone! Does anyone know what causes this? This egg is on day 22 and the veins have not closed around it on the inside. This has happened to me three times and I have never been able to successfully hatched one. How can I prevent this in the future? Thanks!
