    Chicken with wry neck

I have a chicken with wry neck. I have done research and have read to use poly vi sol, vitamin E and selenium to treat this. I am trying to figure out how much of each I can give her without overdosing her. She has been doing the head turning thing since Sunday night (before that I didn't notice...

    Are chicks too hot?

It has been in the 80s during the day and about 60-65 at night. They stay in our shed in the brooder box we built for them. My chicks are about 2 1/2 weeks old and have had their heat lamp on constantly. They are all huddled in the shade. I read that you shouldn't turn the lamp off but even as...

4 week old chick with lice. Need advise!

How often will I need to do it to kill all of the lice? How many times and how often do I have to redo the spray?

4 week old chick with lice. Need advise!

The ones with the lice are 4 weeks old. There are just some 1 weeks olds in the same shed (they are in different cages). I was wondering if the permethrin spray will hurt the 1 week olds. So I can directly spray the liquid spray into the ones that are 4 weeks old? Or would dust be better to use...

4 week old chick with lice. Need advise!

Do I need to put anything directly on them? There are some baby chicks (1 week old) I. The shed near these girls cage. Will the permethrin bother them if sprayed in the same area? Also I read petroleum jelly on them prevents the new lice from hatching. Is this true? Thanks!

4 week old chick with lice. Need advise!

I have a 4 week old chick that I got from someone and I just found out that it has lice. There is buildup around the feather shaft which I've read is lice (is this correct)? And now I am wondering how to treat her. There is one other chicken in the same cage as her and she has a few little bugs...

    Chicken not acting right

Thank you so much for replying! Her crop is full at night, empty in the morning and partly full during the day (I have checked this before which is why I know). She doesn't have any lice or mites (I just checked her really good). How do I know if she is laying internally or has egg yolk peritonitis?

    Chicken not acting right

I have a hen (her name is nugget). She is about 9 months old and was laying great until about a month ago. She laid off and on and now isn't laying at all. She is eating and drinking okay but is not acting right. She is just walking around and hides under the shed sometimes. She was always very...

Is durvet vitamins and electrolytes safe for new chicks?

I just got new chicks today from Tractor Supply and want to make sure this electrolyte and vitamin stuff is okay to feed them. I know I have to dilute it according to the package but want to make sure it is safe for them. The package says for all classes of livestock and poultry. Pictures...

    Limestone

Hey, I've been reading about the dolomite limestone. We were thinking of using it on our grass this year but I'm unsure how it affects chickens. I've read some info that says it is bad and some that say it is fine. Has anyone used it? Will it hurt the chickens? They free range in our fenced yard...

    Dolomitic limestone

Hi, So we are thinking of using some dolomitic limestone on our yard. Will this hurt the chickens that run in the yard? I've read about it and it seems people are going back and forth on if it is safe or not so I was just wanting to get some info from everyone on here. Thanks so much!

Hi, anyone from the Roanoke area? I was wondering if anyone knew a good vet around here to take my hens too if they ever get sick? Thanks so much! :)

    When can I add them?

Azygous- So Since they are about 6 weeks they don't need any heat source right? And when you say take inside do you mean in the house or put them in their own separate coop outside? Thanks!
