Help my hen's toes are falling off!!!

Hi. Did you ever find out what this was? I have a chicken with the exact same thing. People have suggested scaly leg mites or frost bite, but that's not it! Hope you get this, as I see the post is very old. Thanks!

    Help with Lavender Orpington gender

I would almost bet money you have the perfect trio there: 1 roo and 2 pullets. None of them have a very red comb either yet. Definitely I can't see very large, or RED comb and wattles. Way too pink for roos. Also, there might be some pointy saddle feathers and tail feathers on the one...But from...

In Lockdown Need Advise Fast! Hovabator 1588

Room temp. is a stable 70 degrees. The thermometer/hygrometer I have is a little rectangle, and can't go on top of the eggs, so it sits on the wire floor with them, or there is a place on the lid I can set it. That's how I know the temp is so off. If I'm going with the reading down where my eggs...

In Lockdown Need Advise Fast! Hovabator 1588

If you use a Genesis 1588 HovaBator, do you find the temperature and humidity shown on the machine to be accurate? The one I'm using shows a HUGE difference from my hygrometer/thermometer. The temperature is also 2-3 degrees cooler on the floor of the incubator than it is at the top of the...

    Worming- Need some instructions please!

I am wondering when you should start worming your flock. Do you worm healthy chickens, or only if you see worms? I use DE in their coop, so I'm specifically curious about the wormers like Wazine or Ivermectin. I have not seen ivermectin for chickens, only other livestock. Also, does a chemical...

Is This Coryza? Or could it be something else? HELP!

I brought this chick home a month ago, and thought she just needed "cleaned up." Her eyes are puffy, and the hair sticks to her face around the eyes. She blinks a lot too. No other symptoms, and she eats and acts normal. She has been in with a bantam cochin for the entire time, and cochin is not...

Is my Rhode Island Red a rooster or hen

Rhoderunner makes a very good point. If all of your others have the same size comb...Guess you will know soon!

    Help with Lavender Orpington gender

My Orps developed waddles and combs at a young age, even the pullets. The comb doesn't look big enough for a roo to me. Definitely could still be a pullet. I'm on the fence with a few of mine now too...Won't be long though and you'll know. I hate waiting. Do they display rooster behavior?

Roo or One Bad Mama Jamma?

Thanks for all of the input so far. Based on the comments, I think she will be a hen, but will let you know! I just can't stand the wait. Haha. Had to find out the sex of my own kids too ;) The chicks are from the best English lines here in the US, so definitely not a mixed (on purpose) breed...

New splash silkie. Hoping for a cockerel! What do yall think?

That first pic looks like crowing position to me. Angular crest, not rounded. My guess is roo. :)

Roo or One Bad Mama Jamma?

I have some Imported English Orpington Chicks and there is one partridge that is much larger than the others. Does not act flighty, does not stretch it's neck up, but has thick ankles and a huge breast. It's just a massive chick. The comb is not really bigger than the others, but is turning red...

    Baby Chick Lethargic Please Help!

I brought home 5, 1-3 day old baby chicks a few days ago. I've already lost 2, and one is extremely lethargic and won't eat. The two that died were fine, healthy and growing and then just died overnight. What could this be from, and what should I do now? I don't want to lose any more!!! So...

    Silkies 5 weeks

I figured that's what the response would be. I'm impatient! Actually, just seems like this one has so many "roo" characteristics and behavior, I don't want to keep it longer than necessary. So have you seen silkies with what looks like streamers like mine has at this age turn out to be hens...
