Where are you at in ElDo?
I have family with large gardens up in Georgetown.
Gram used to have garden boxes with glass tops for winter veggie, kale and cabbage all winter long..
Ours will not eat strawberries (unless the it is the ONLY treat that day) carrots, cooked or raw, banana, mango.. unless a small hole is started.. then they will eat it down to the bare seed.. but they will not touch sliced mango.
Nor will they touch their new pellets. ARG.. don't they know...
Me too.. although I still violate the 20 foot from building aspect.
I hope that Eugene is lives up to it's green reputation and lifts the limit permanently.

Our old girl Annie McFannie, who is now over 11...goes out and checks what treats the chickens are getting everyday. She has never chased them... other than the obligtory fuzzy butt sniffing. I thought I was the only one crazy enough to do bullgods...

Flock block.
Its this big 12x12 inch block of seeds, grains, molasses, grit, oyster shell...It was about 10 bucks...
My hubby drilled a hole through the center and we hung it under the cover in the run. Though if I had it to do again, I would put it in a wire box or something like that...
We have pullets.. Our 5 girls were laying 4-5 a day.. then about the first of Oct, we were down to 3 a day..
Went to feed store bought a flock block.
egg production since adding the flock block.. 5 a day.
I have no idea why or what, if they were not getting enough food, grit, shell or ...

Our city home is on a 10 house dead end street..
We all look after each other's dogs, so that when a dog or other animal gets loose we put them back in. With a quick note and a hiya.
And just last month, the body builder across from me was chasing chickens that got loose. I really wish...
