Is there anything that stands out about our 'Big Doc' visually that would make him a bad candidate to make little FBCMs with? We picked him up at a swap is about the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Granted, I don't know my rearend from a hole in the ground when it comes to oicking a good...
Thank you, Zanna! This hen is in her first week of laying and the second hen hasn't started. Mainly just looking to a varity to my egg carton and add some BCM hens in with the BCM rooster we picked up a few weeks ago.
Question about a BCM who just started laying who's eggs are lighter and smaller than what is expected. Blood lines are good, and I'm looking at buying from a girl local. Is it normal for them start light then darken as they age? Thanks!
Thanks for the info. Need to look at EE Rooster photos and check out pea combs on Roos so I can get a better handle. Next question is, if I left this guy in the flock with my year old Marans roo, how will the two react to each other? I'll have about 12-14 hens when all said and done.
Thanks...
Yea, that's what I was afraid of. Interesting on the mixed Easter Egger. Still got a lot to learn. He is BEAUTIFUL, but this is a one Roo family and Doc the FBCM is entrenched! Thanks all! I appreciate it, even if it's not the news I wanted.
14ish week old Americana. Hoping hen, but thinking roo. Our adult Marans roo doesn't pay attention to her/him and 'it's' not crowing. Guesses? Thanks. [/IMG]
I agree, she looks younger than 24 weeks. My 3 Wyandottes took the longest to start laying, which is okay because they're the most beautiful and I considered it a trade off.
We added a beautiful Marans rooster to our flock Sunday (5Days ago), and even though I haven't witnessed any 'fertilizing activities', I decided to check for a fertile egg from yesterdays batch. This photo is enhanced for contrast and detail, but can anyone guess if its fertile before I ask a...
I have a 7 month old Buff that have been rather lethargic for the past two days. Her waddle and face seems dull and pale and her balance seems off. She did lay yesterday prior to this onset and she also picked at scratch this evening. None of our other 8 hens seems affected and we have not added...
The Nalgene material is super hard and my be too dense to get the threads to bite into. I've never tried it, but its pretty bullet proof stuff. Have you heard of anyone using a Nalgene bottle? The PVC material that is normally used is pretty workable for stuff like that.
Good luck. I'll be...
