4 week poults dying
In need of some help here. Hatched 3 turkey eggs under a chicken 3-4 weeks ago. Poults doing great. Running around, healthy. Then one seems to lose muscle control. Sprattle legs, head falling back, then Died. A couple of days later a second one did the same Thing. Only one left. I have more eggs... -
Tom turning against me
Thanks all. I have held my Tom down before, didn't seem to do much good but might be time to try again. I will stop feeding him from my hand and get that broom out. I'm open to all suggestions except killing him. -

Poop Hammock Rocks!!
Funny you should ask that. The first pic I posted was when I had 8 hens. I now have around 60 with more to come. I built a frame about 2' off the coop floor and well below two long roosts. when can put my poults in with my full grown turkeys ?
Mine are out from about a month, but they are turkey or chicken hen raised and protected by the moms. The chicken hens really do a great job. Actually better than the turkey hens -

Market for heritage turkeys
I now have more little turkeys than I can house over the winter. They are Wild Rio Grandes. If I were to sell breeding pairs, should they be from different hens and toms. Do I have to be careful of in breeding like with other animals? How much for a pair, say around 3-6 months old? I live in NM... -
HELP with Turkey Hatchlings!
Interesting side note...spoke with my friend who had a chicken hen hatch two of my eggs and a turkey hen hatch two. Both within a day of each other. She said the poults being raised by the chicken are much farther advanced than those of the turkey hen. -

Thank you. I should have mentioned these babies were hatched and are being hen raised. Later this morning when I checked the family was off the hay bales. I had left the little door open for them and one baby was out and obviously lost. I think I will keep them locked inside for several more... -
