Are you keeping your chicks in the brooder for 6 weeks because you live in cold climate? My chicks are 2 weeks old and look well-feathered. That said, it is 87° F here today in southern CA at the beginning of November. What is a reasonable night time temperature for them to tolerate?

I've read they need more Vitamin E and Selenium. The Vitamin E is not a problem to find, but none of the vitamin blends I find have selenium too. What is a good source of Selenium? Thx!
I am actually trying my hand at raising Coturnix Quail. I have a smaller yard in a small-ish housing tract, so there is not really enough room for chickens. Plus, quail are a bit quieter - at least that is my experience.
