Temporarily Housing Chickens in Garage

Yes they really appreciate roosts
Your chickens are kinda going on a camping trip in your garage they will love it
Get some heat going in there outside coop if you can to help dry out the wood
Oh I bought a 50 foot roll of 5 foot tall fencing from tractor supply for one area in my garage and stood it up in a big circle I did not use the whole roll though

I’m not sure where to put this thread, sorry.

I read one way to make sure your coop doesn’t get too cold is to paint the wood so it doesn’t absorb moisture. My coop does seem to get very damp, I’m trying to fix it. Anyway, obviously the chickens can’t be in there for a couple days. How would I go about making them comfy I’m the garage? Should I try to partition off a small section for them? I have no idea how I would do that, but I’m pretty handy. I put their coop together myself?
Painting may keep the coop slightly warmer, but mostly it will protect the wood so it doesn't rot, mold, warp etc. All good things to do regardless.

Not the actual question I know but if the coop is getting damp, painting it probably won't fix it. You need to figure out what's causing the dampness (lack of ventilation? rain leaking in? ground water?) and resolve that first, then let the wood dry, and then you can paint it to protect the wood or whatnot.
All This^^^
...and painting it while it's damp is not a good idea either.

Grab some 2x4" 6' high welded wire fence and make a corral,
it stands pretty well by itself but may need to tack it down in a few places,
overlap by a foot of so for a 'door'.

Post some pics of your coop, inside and out, and we can help with ventilation.
Tho you'll never get it 'drier' inside the coop than it is outside the coop.

@Ducksandchickens I think you mean a playpen :lau I'm literally laughing out loud remembering a friend's grandson asking when they were going to get the "baby cage" out for the new sibling coming (he meant the crib):lau

To the OP, yes you need to determine why it's so damp. Does it have a hard floor, or is it on the ground? If it's bare ground, I would get some barn lime and tamp it in super hard, at least an inch deep. That will help some. Do you have adequate ventilation up high?

For the garage pen, you could probably get a roll of snow fence rather cheap and find a way to attach it so it stands up.

Yes that is what’s I meant. Lol.
