    RIR losing weight and lethargic

Thank you for everyone’s responses I will definitely try them tomorrow morning. She is a little less than two years old and I’m not sure if she’s laying because I have a few RIRs, but I’ll check the eggs a little closer and see if I can tell them apart. She is eating and drinking normally but...

    RIR losing weight and lethargic

My Rhode Island Red has been moving very slow lately and hanging out by herself during the day when the rest of the flock free ranges. I thought she may have been molting but I just picked her up and she’s super light. I looked under her feet and found what may be bumble foot? Would that cause...

    Integrating broody and chicks

    Integrating broody and chicks

Yes the smaller coop is in sight and I’ve been allowing the Faverolle and the chicks into the main run while the rest of the flock is free ranging so they’ve been interacting through the fence as well. I have a lame Easter egger I call limpy and mamma seemed to assert herself over the EE so at...

    Integrating broody and chicks

I had a small coop, so we decided to upgrade but in the midst of transitioning, my salmon Faverolle decided to go broody. Long story short she hatched and has been raising the chicks in the smaller coop while the rest of the flock is in the new coop. The chicks are around 3 weeks old and need to...

    Limping Easter Egger

Yes she is eating and drinking. I took a picture of the foot in case it could be bumble foot possibly? I did not see any hot areas but I will check for a break.

    Limping Easter Egger

A few weeks ago we had a fox attack and we lost 2 hens. While the Easter Egger didn’t have any obvious wounds, her feathers were scattered around so we know that something happened. Fast forward a week, she started limping and now she hops around on one foot. Is this residual affects from the...

    Broody pullet

I actually made another thread because this one seemed to have died. But she’s going great!! I bought her some eggs and she’s been persistently sitting on them. She got them yesterday so the 23rd can’t come soon enough!

    What do I do now?

I had my first broody experience a little over a week ago, so I finally decided to get some eggs (we just finished a new coop and you can’t just have extra space lol). Anyways, the eggs arrived today, I popped them under Phyllis, and she accepted them right away. So my question is: do I just...

Are any of these breeds incompatible in a mixed flock?

I actually got my Brahma in September, so she didn't get the full heat of the summer, but so far she seems to be doing okay and its been in the 80s for the past week or two.
