2 silkie hens sitting on eggs and 2 chicks. Moved both hens, chicks and eggs inside to get away from everyone else.
Both hens were fighting so I moved the youngest back outside. Should I put the eggs back outside also or will one hen care for 2 chicks and 14 eggs?

Of coarse I just posted a question about the same thing. I guess I am going to bring my hens and chicks in the garage to keep them away from the roosters and other hens and close to the food
In the past whenever we go out of town out silkies hatch some eggs. Well just got back and I now have 2 out 3 chicks (one died) in a nesting box with 2 hens. There are also about 6 more eggs.
I usually set up something inside for the hen and chicks but do I really need to? I also have 2 silkie...
Does anyone leave them in the tractor overnight. I wanted an option that I could put a few birds in each and let them do their thing for a few days without having to take them out each night?
I currently have 2 stationary coops and runs with 5 silkies, 6 golden comets and 6 barred rocks. I am thinking of making a couple tractors to get them out around the yard. My concern is how safe are they? Couldn't a raccoon or other critter dig and/or lift the tractor?

Fed my first round today to the chickens. I am making 3 shoebox size rounds each time with a total of 9. I am going to try more holes in the batch that is soaking now

Thanks. I will have to try it in mine when this round is done. I have it in the garage which has 2 windows but not much light. They are growing and should be done in a few days

Ended up pulling mom and babies and moved to another location. I guess I don't need that section of my shop for a while. Total suprise having chicks. Both hens have been broody for quite some time and I guess they got it right now
