Had a lot of infertile eggs. 29 were developing and made it to lock down. 26 hatched! One cinnamon queen/spitzhauben mix, 6 spitzhauben and 19 Easter Egger- brandmarie

After candling, out of 48, looking like 13 infertile and 5 maybes. I was expecting it with a new rooster with some of the girls. But saw awesome movement in the ones developing! Got a great video I have no idea how to attach lol- brandmarie

I use the flashlight on my iPhone. I'm not usually so lucky, these eggs are so white and easy to see through. I can't wait to see them as they progress!- brandmarie

Ahhh! My momma duck has started her nest! She tends to be an overachiever and lays 17-20 before sitting, so fingers crossed she times it perfectly. I think she wanted to join the hatch a long!! :weee- brandmarie

I was actually thinking that, most likely the full grown hens she bought weren't actually RIR, and probably a sex link. And the striped ones probably came from them and the RIR rooster. I have no idea how mixed breeds work so didn't know if the comb and skin color from the ameraucana would be...- brandmarie

Thank you! That link is great! I think you are right the 2 solid ones came from the RIR rooster and the other 3 might be mixed with the ameraucana! Her ameraucana came from me when I let my broody hatch 2 years ago, so definitely ameraucana. Mine came from a breeder not a hatchery. I get the...- brandmarie

That link is great! Thank you! I think you might be right that the 2 solid ones came from the RIR roo and the others might be mixes! So cute!
