Hey, her feet seemed a bit faded but its definitely white, I am not sure if that is something to do with the age. Her eggs are also white, here's some pictures for reference. I can't tell if they're Australorp, Orpington or even something else.
I've had this white hen for 2 years now as I bought her from a farm. I kept her as a backyard chicken pet and she is very docile and loving, however yesterday there was an incident where she unfortunately passed away due to an accident where no one was around.. I miss her very much and despite...
Well, the swelling seems to have calmed down significantly. She seems generally active again but the liquid near her eyes are still there. There aren't many vets here and apparently they don't tend to chickens for some strange reason. There is one, but its infamous for unnecessary surgeries and...
Just an update.. but it seems like she's getting a bit lethargic. She's eating but she's doing it very slowly, her movements look a bit sluggish too. Quite worried now :(
Edit: Noticing more of the bubbly residue in the corner of its eyes, probably related somehow.
There doesn't seem to be any other symptoms, she seems to walk fine eat fine and drink fine. Doesn't seem to be a watery nose, the only difference is that she sounds slightly different (as if she has a sore throat in a way) but I don't think this would relate to her swollen eye? I will try to...
So yesterday night my chicken seems to have something wrong with her left eye, at the time it was not swollen nor was it watery but seemed to be 'sunken' a bit more than her other eye. We simply dismissed this as it was late at night, and she didn't seem to have anything wrong with her in the...
I don't recall the chicken pulling up the injured leg, it was if it was some iron clad that it couldn't really move or control (kind of like just using it so support its side of the body). The movement was very stiff and it only occurred randomly one afternoon. The strangest thing is, she's all...
Thanks for the quick reply! Yes we used to have 4 but now she is the only bird we have. She's not too overweight and I think her feed is relatively fine. I am wondering if she requires a splint? And does it have to be done at a vet? Thanks again.
Hello all, recently I went to go check on my orpington hen and I realized one of her legs were not functioning as well. She was walking and would almost look as if she's tripping and has a lot of trouble using the other leg. She's often losing her balance so she'd fall when jumping off a small...
Thank you for the info, I do believe the hen experienced this a very long time ago but it got better by itself after around 2 days. I'll see what I can do, thank you!
