and state the ocassional single comb individuals do occure. Probably a throw back to cochin blood. Genes are funny that way.

The APA only recognizes the rose comb variety. However, single comb RIWs do exist, especially in hatchery quality birds.
Have also observed them in Grandparent Stock used in producing red sex links.
Sorry, your birds' genetics would only be a guess.

BTW, Feb. shipment was 37 chicks. As of March 9, still feeding 37! Healthy chicks - Good supplier.
Check the space between the pelvic bones. If laying, LF should be about
three finger width. Bantams - two fingers. Bones should be pliable
if laying( to accomodate egg passage ). Also, a non-layer's comb
will be pale and somewhat shrunken.
