My babies are pets and the eggs are a bonus. I just love 'em. My husband tells people that my chickens will be using walkers and canes to free range the property when they are old lol. There is just something so relaxing about chickens.....I could sit and watch them all day.

Thank you all for your replies. I feel more confident about the outside run now. We built a new chicken coop and it is inside my garden greenhouse/shed. The little chicken door leads out into the outside run. Good double insulation especially here in Michigan where winter can be pretty cold...
