    How much layer food should I feed my hens in the winter?

    I have 25 chickens. I feed 1# of feed 3x a day. They also clean up spilled grain from the goats and get scraps along with a pumpkin or zucchini that I’ve saved a 1-2x a week. They all do fine.

    Fall Leaves

    I put a couple wheelbarrow loads of leaves inside my coop and another couple in the yard. Let them root and scratch through it. I’m a couple weeks shovel it all out mixed with their droppings into the potato patch. Will be beautifully broken down by spring.

    I’m located in Jefferson County Ohio. Looking call some Dominique hens or hatching eggs. Also chocolate call ducks. I have a mixed flock of hens, buff call ducks and khaki Campbell ducks.

    I started with barred rocks but currently my flock is pretty mixed. Hoping to get back to barred rocks or even Dominique’s if I can find hatching eggs or chicks reasonably. I’ve attached a few pictures of my crew.

    Hello! Broken H Farm is located in Eastern Ohio. We are a small farm with boer goats, miniature horses, chickens, Call and Campbell ducks. Looking forward to learning and sharing.
