How do you all go about collecting eggs in the winter? I usually just collect once a day in the evening. Can cold and or possible frozen eggs be brought inside to sit on the counter or do they need to go in the fridge?
Hi everyone! Looking for some creative ideas to keep our run covered in the winter (mostly from hawks). Currently we have thin plastic netting over the top which I know will collapse with snow on it. Any ideas? Pictures attached of our current set up
Update: I love this stuff! It’s wood chips in the consistency of sand and is very soft. I also added poop boards / trays with sweet PDZ. The coop floor has stayed so clean and scent free. I go in there about once a week and sift out any droppings.

My one Easter Egger hen almost always has her tail feathers fanned out, almost like a turkey. Below is a comparison of her tail feathers vs my other EE. Can anyone tell me why this is?
Update: one of our speckled sussex laid an egg 12 days after this post at 18.5 weeks old and one of our Easter eggers laid 15 days after this post at 19 weeks exactly!
I haven’t tried this! The first soft egg shell egg she laid was like 3 inches outside of the nesting box so I was waiting to see what she did with this one. If it isn’t in the nesting box, I will do this! Thanks!
