Our brooder has hardware cloth sides so I put two dowel rods through the holes and ziptied around the dowel on the outside of the brooder to keep it from slipping.
Hi from Albany Maine. I am a complete birdaholic. I have 35 chickens, and 20 new quail babies. My meat birds and turkeys will be here next month. I love spring. Are there any other quail owners out there or anyone who knows anything breeding/housing them. If you do I would love to chat...
I have been reading alot of the posts about quail and now I have narrowd down my questions this:
I purchased 20 baby coutournix quail last weekend. They are Jumbo browns, Texas A&M's, and gold manchurin. At least that is what the guy told me.
I hope to breed them so where do I go from here...
I cant imagine trying to clean it. It is quite small. However, If you only want a couple chickens and have kids that could clean it then you are all set. It is quite cute.
FYI for all. I am drastically downsizing my flock. I will be bringing a number of birds to Chickenstock. I can not tell you what I have right now. I will have a couple of roos, a dozen or so pullets and some straight run. Bantams and Standard. See you guys there.
For a few weeks we have been laughing at my bantam hen trying to sit on her BIG babies. Well last night when I went to get eggs she was sitting on 3 eggs and the babies and acted broody. Is this unheard of?
