sadly the chick died today. he never managed to get up onto his feet and was just too weak. he seemed to be doing quite well yesterday after he had some baby vitamins he was even making an attempt to get up etc.
chick just hatched with massive growth attatched to its umbilicus. I initially thought it was its bowels formed externally but it didnt look right for that. i was examining the chick when he scratched it with his foot and split the membrane. dark yellow gunk leaked out along with another baby...
i have exactly the same problem but pirate (because he/she walks on one leg) is such a character, shes staying even if she ends up a house chicken ;
hes 6 weeks now so will take an uptodate pic of the little munchkin
I would fire up the incy and get them in there, although mommy chook may know there is something wrong that you don't. Is the broodie getting enough food and water?
Hi, where were the pics you posted? straddle legs can take a few days to fix, but if the band aid hobble is in place and the chick still isnt walking up on both feet it probably isn't spraddle leg.
Thank you I will try that when my vet wrap gets delivered. Do I need to wrap the whole leg? and should I bind it to the good leg?
