New chicken person! We thought we were sold Rhode Island Reds, but I was assured by every commenter on another post that they are not RIR. Well, one of these laid the egg. It is very exciting!!
Edit: I found two more eggs later on in the day. Do I need to do anything to make them stronger...
I’m so sorry for your loss. It looks like it was quite cold outside. Is it possible she wasn’t able to keep warm and perished from the cold, and then partially eaten? Would you consider a hard sided enclosure for future rabbits? Maybe something like a mini dog house?
We have 6 Rhode Island Reds who are all supposed to be female. But check out the two with the combs (Waddles in back, Comie in the middle) Is it possible they just have manly traits?
Thank you for your message! Yes, it’s mixed chicken feed that contains corn, and things. The owner has a bin filled with this very grainy, grey colored, powder that sounds like the oyster shells, but I will check with him in the morning.
I only gave them the core of my pear once, salad...
Hello, All. We have 6 Rhode Island Reds, their abode was built by the property owner (with whom I live). I have happily taken on the responsibility of caring for their hens. We live in a rural part of San Diego, California.
I quickly learned they need a poop pan under their standing pole...
