Help! I had one hen (new mom) and she had 3 eggs that hatched. I found on dead on first day. Next day found the other 2 dead. They were perfect. I new did see them pop their heads out at all. Now I have a new momma hen and she had 3 eggs and one hatched last night heard it peeping and went out...
My 2 year old sex-link had been laying eggs up until a few months ago. Her roommate is still laying eggs (not same breed). She goes up in the coop like she's going to lay, but nothing.
Agree, just waiting to see what happens with the 2 eggs left. I do have another broody hen, thought I will put them under her if she gets off of the nest.
I have a new momma hen, she was sitting on 5 eggs. Found 3 dead so far, can not see anything wrong with them. She has 2 more under her. What would be causing them to die? They were a day old, perfectly formed. Is she stepping on them or smothering them?
I worry about my rooster, he's old but still has memories of being a randy young rooster. She's staying close to tthe house. The chickens roost on my tack room, no coop. She was going up there, but I think she sensed her momma wasn't well and came back down. Hopefully she will go up with them...
My mamma hen died last night and she really never integrated the her 10 week old baby into the flock. They are not accepting her. She has been crying, so sad and she is sitting on my back door step. The other chickens have left her and I don't know what to do.
It looks like my hen is dying and her chick, who is old enough to go with the rest of the flock, won't leave her. They have been together since she was born for months. They are very close. My hen looks sick and the baby is trying to get underneath her, even though she's as big as mom. At this...
Our 1 year old black sex-link quit laying. The other 2 are laying everyday. She goes into the nest everyday to lay, but nothing. She also was laying some very small eggs, no yoke. She's not egg bound or she would be dead by now. They had mites a couple of months ago but we treated them for that...
Update: We had to put her down. She wouldn't eat, drink or stand up. Took her back to the veterinary and he gave us the bad news. The hen's had caused nerve damage, her G.I. track was messed up and she was developing sour croup. She was the sweetest chicken, always wanting to nestle on your...
The equaide is a topical used for treating wounds on all animals a provides a scab shell to protect the skin. It's great stuff for medical treatment but getting if off her, it suppose to eventually dissolve. Then I read up on it again it also protects the wound from flies. And thank you.
That's why I took her to the vet, if the couldn't help her I would have put her down. The doctor said she would make it, I don't believe in letting any animal suffer also. I hope he's right and I will make sure she's not in pain.
