I read here a lot but rarely post. I thought I would include a picture of one of my breeding pens for 2017. Silver Laced Cornish Bantam project. These are 4th generation from original parents, Silver laced wyandottes crossed on single laced dark cornish.
Thought I would post a picture of my SL Cornish bantam project that I've been working on for 4 years now. This pullet is 20 weeks old, 7/8 cornish and 1/8 SL Wyandotte.I think in 3 or 4 more generations I might be there.Chicks are definitely NOT uniform yet, but I have about half a dozen pullets...
This is a 28 week old cockerel that is very dark, very limited lacing, but he is a chunk. When you pick him up you know he is a cornish. Terrible picture, he is quite flighty and has lost his tail in the growout pen, but I like his head and his overall type. I will be breeding him to a smutty...
Here is a picture of a decently laced pullet at 12 weeks. I have a cockerel that isn't as well laced but has a classic cornish head and heavy bone that I will be breeding to this one. I am really looking forward to the F5 offspring
yes, my best colored birds are the worst type and vice versa. But, its fun. I expect to have some pictures of this generation in a few weeks, they are starting to fill out. had one get loose the other day and I was surprised when I caught it that it felt like a cornish! a lot heavier than it looked.
Well, they started laying very late this year, but I have about 30 chicks coming up form three hatches, oldest ones are about 5 months old. I have selected two cockerels and two pullets from that group that I will use. I have about 10 more that are 3.5 months old and about 10 more that are still...
I will check him more closely on saturday when I'm actually home in the daylight. I have had several with the brassiness, but I have not seen it on him or on any of the females I've raised.
Thats actually shadows, I don't see the red in real life. But, the two birds in the avatar have single laced dark cornish in them. The variety of colors I have gotten is pretty astounding. Everything from single laced dark to smutty columbian to black to SL
Thought I would post a picture of my Silver Laced Cornish Bantam project. This cockerel is 4th generation, out of the birds in my avatar. I'm not totally happy with him, still lots of work to do, but definitely coming along. I hope to have some really nice birds in another 4 generations!
Thought I would post a picture of a Silver Laced Cornish Bantam cockerel. The birds in my avatar are his parents. Coming along, but he holds his wings too low. I think in 4-5 more years I may have some really nice birds!
