My sweet 12 year old rooster aspirated water today and I hate myself. Please help if you can.
No change today he's still rattling and a little wheezy but acting normal otherwise. How long will it take for that rattle to resolve if no infection? Also, does anyone know if dry air or humid air is best for him right now? I want to put him back outside but it's 90 and humid.- BWchicken

Thanks for the reply that is good to know! I hope your 9 year old is doing well! I never thought chicks would live this long but I'm grateful for them. I started with him and his 12 hens and now down to just the two of them they're like an old married couple lol. He's about the same today...- BWchicken

Anyone good at math? Dosing 'Tetroxy HCA 280' from avian vet
Thanks! I wonder why the vet's instructions are so different from the package instructions. Ugh I don't know which one to go by. So would this math be right IF I used the vet's dosage (1 whole bag to 5 gallons)? There's 1 1/4 cup powder in the whole bag - to be added to 5 gallons water 1 /1/4...- BWchicken

Anyone good at math? Dosing 'Tetroxy HCA 280' from avian vet
So I took my very sick 12 year old rooster to the avian vet today. They were not very thorough, but they said upper respiratory infection and gave me a bag of Tetroxy HCA 280. The bag says it is "280g (9.87oz)" The vet tech and the rx label both say "Mix the entire bag with 5 gallons of water...- BWchicken

Anyone used Ivermectin without pre-treatment of wazine?
Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes I used the 5% pour on for cattle. Egg withdrawal is 10-14 days. Mine is a bantam and I used 3 drops (using a poly-vi-sol dropper) on the skin where her shoulders meet her neck. I think it's 4 or 5 drops for a regular size chicken.
