If a rooster only carries one blue egg gene is bred to a hen only carrying one blue egg gene, will you get some blue egg laying offspring or will they only lay green eggs?
I’m new to raising d’Anvers and have some three day old quail colored chicks. Can you determine their sex by down color? I’m thinking that the lighter color, especially around the head indicates a cockerel and the darker color indicates a pullet.
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm looking forward to him getting older. He's in a bachelor pad pen with a same age Polish bantam that only crows 2 or 3 times each morning. What's weird is that the Polish is the dominant rooster so I figured that would keep my OEGB from crowing so much.
In your opinion which breeds crow the most and least? I have my first Old English Game bantam and he started crowing at 5 week, and crows way more than any other breed I've ever had. All the other breeds only crow a few times/day.
Excellent information! Thanks. I didn't know BB Reds are the same thing as a Gold Duckwing. So are Golden Duckwings an approved color for poultry shows? There's no such thing as a female Golden Duckwing correct? Does breeding a BBR male over a silver duckwing female give you the same yellow/gold...
Is there a difference between Gold Duckwing and Golden Duckwing in Old English Game Bantams? What would I get using a BB Red Roo over a Silver Duckwing hen?
I brought a couple of mine into my garage and keep in in a large dog crate. They're bantams, they have plenty of room. It was the only way I could keep them. I tried the no crow collar and they freaked out and the other chickens starting attacking them.
@Kaceyram11 Yes, please post again when you find out if it's a cockerel or pullet. I have one that looks almost identical to yours, but it's only 4 weeks old. Judging by the way mine behaves, I'm leaning towards cockerel because it's already trying to be near the top of the pecking order with my...
Not true! They are hybrids. Hybrids come from crossing to standard breeds together. EE’s aren’t a standard breed. They are mutts in the chicken world. That’s why you get so many different colors combinations, no breed standard, and can’t be shown in poultry shows.
I am currently breeding Black Copper Marans (Wade Jeanne line) and will be selling hatching eggs in the spring of 2010 for $20.00/doz. + shipping.

Yeah, I showed in it last year but since it's 2 nights at a hotel this year I may not be able to afford it. I wonder why they can't do all the judging on Saturday like they have always done in the past?
