Update: my Wyandotte just died. I heard a squawk and looked in the brooder, she was on her back convulsing. I gently lifted her and put her right side up, and she flopped over and died. Is it possible she had a stroke?
Thanks! Our biggest inspiration was this coop at The Tangled Nest Blog.http://thetanglednest.com/2010/02/our-urban-chicken-coop-plan/
Also "playhouse" style coops. Our plan is to attach a permanent chicken run, which will include the space under the coop. In the meantime I am building an 8x4x2'...
Thanks! I read that ventilation was important, husband was worried about chickens being protected enough. This was our compromise design. Screened sides face south and east.
Thank you, I was worried it was Mareks but she doesn't really have the symptoms. Will try to correct her diet, I would have thought the costly organic feed I have been buying them would have prevented this!
I have her in isolation in the brooder. She can stand and flap her wings. She just sits on her feet a lot, her legs do not spread out so much when she is on pine shavings...
I actually did post in the forum, the reason I finally got to starting my account was because of sick chick advice. I think I need to create a more effective post though, I haven't gotten any replies yet...
