    When they are going flat I found that is they're way of showing desire to be bred. They start young and if no drakes the hens will go through the breeding motions I have found

    Have you thought about coyotes? Dog like print large and can get into anything. Another is foxes. Just a thought I had. Eventhough your neighbors talk you have a pen and putting a top on an already existing pen should not cause a problem. An electric fence does wonders to keep preditors out...

    duck eggs for eating

    Mine stay good at least a month sometimes more. If they are older I float test them. But remember the chicken eggs you buy at the store are a month old. I have four hens and all lay daily so I also have a bunch of eggs.

    I've found if you only have one and its fussing or like my pair was fussing when I got out of sight, I put a shirt I have worn and they seem happy and quit fussing. They also have a stuffed toy as well as a mirror but the addetion of tge shirt seemed to make them more comfortable.

    Hen cant lift head after fox attack

    When the bobcat bit my duck his neck was extremely sore. I gave him metcam for pain as per vets advice. It took about a month before he was back to normal. Rest, quiet, soft feed is what I did. Good luck
