Well, my son wasn't too thrilled to have this conversation with mom, but the article was so interesting (never heard the term "binding" before), and since he's the one usually doing feeding/collecting, it had to be shared.
It was another way to keep my son busy. It made him feel more responsible, that he had an important role in the family as the hens and our dinner depended on his effort.
I guess both times we've done it, was because we wanted our kids to know how to manage their own food source.
