2 1/2 month old light Brahma cockerel. It's obvious this isn't a pullet.
Will make a good breeding prospect, pet, etc. Friendly and healthy.
We do not want roosters. They tear up our laying hens. But I sure as heck don't want to eat them!
Located in Northern Shelby County, IL. You must...
They are hard to photograph when they are running around at warp speed. LOL
Here he/she is on the left preening. The one to the behind/right I am sure is a pullet.
Cackel Hatchery has a 95% accuracy rate regarding sexing. So with 16 chicks I figure I should only have 2 cockerels at the most.
At 2 1/2 months old. LOOKS like a cockerel. Was hoping I would luck out with all pullets but this little one I am not sure about.
What do you all think?
The hatchery I use will only ship on Monday and Tuesday. Mine were shipped out on a Monday and were delivered the next day. Of course, where you are located in relation to where the hatchery is has a lot to do with delivery time.
Our neighbors purchased chicks from McMurray one year and they too all died. In their case it was because McMurray shipped over the weekend and the chicks sat in the postal warehouse for almost 3 days.
But their shipping practices may have changed since then.
Hugs for the stress you are going...

Well, she is getting a bit better. Her head isn't flopping to the side as much, in fact, hardly at all unless she gets upset over something, which is usually when I put her back in her box. She has this delusion I am "mommy".
She is eating a little although not as much as I would like for her...
My week old black Jersey chick, who I found with wry neck this morning, is not doing so well with this ailment. She will only drink if I use a syringe and she will not attempt to eat. She is lethargic and only sleeps; is not active at all.
I am pretty much resigned to the fact that she is not...
I have a week old Black Jersey Giant chick that I found like this today. I have her isolated and am giving her small drops of water w/ Terramyacin (sp?) and am also massaging her neck.
I was worrying about feeding her but am going to try what the poster above suggested with parrot food.
She is...
