We’re at day 21. One chick hatched last night and knocked some of the eggs around. No worries there. This morning, My toddler climbed up and opened the bator, messed with egg and sponges, and this one was flipped, pip down. When I quickly reached in to flip it, that’s the size of the hole...
Hopefully I am permitted to post this here, but I have a hen that has IDENTICAL coloring to a Silver Grey Dorking, slate gray legs but a pea comb. Could someone possibly identify what she could be? I can try and get a picture of her later...
My friend and I have set 9 eggs in our DIY styro bator and miraculously they have all survived (at day 14 candling) and we are getting our first pips RIGHT NOW!! This little guy (or gal) rolled herself upright (air sac facing up thankfully) between two other eggs! She has pipped as you can see...
Picked this assortment up yesterday... They had purchased the eggs of full size birds to put under their setting Bannys... My guesses are in parenthesis for sex and breed [I am a novice so no judging] :) Thanks in advance for your help! I love this BYC community!

This is our 8 week old from an Golden Comet hen and a Speckled Sussex Roo. I don't have any idea what breed it would be- probably just a mutt. But the sexing is what I am worried about... Any feedback on this baby would be helpful Thanks in advance!!
I have the same question!! I have a hatchling from a speckled Sussex roo and either a golden comet hen or a barred rock hen. Problem is that it looks exactly like the broody golden comet. I didn't think that that outcome was possible. Did OP ever hatch any chicks?!
I bribed her out of the nest with some zucchini muffin :) She just has the one baby and it's beautiful! The other eggs were gone (did she eat them?- nothing could have gotten in- trust me) except one who I believe had a sticky membrane and bled out inside it :( She let me clean the box out and...
This is Mable and her baby... Not sure if this is actually *her* baby, as we have Barred Rock and Speckled Sussex hens as well. She is a Red Sexlink (Golden Comet or whatever else you want to call her...) Roo is a Speckled Sussex, and to me baby looks like a Red Sexlink female- but I didn't...
Is it pretty normal for momma to be protective of the baby? I can't manage to get her out of the nesting box and when I do she gets pretty fierce. I want to check them both out as well as check on the other eggs left. Should I force it?
Yes! The shrink wrap is what I am talking about. I have searched and searched for a picture of this to try and identify that it is indeed shrink wrapped. There are literally no photos anywhere near like what our egg looks like. The membrane was soft and white and the humidity is well over 80 in...
