Asparagus fern warning: My bantie Cochins and Silkie decimate them. I've moved some up high, and they'll actually jump 3 feet up in the air to nab the leaves. They are free range and have a lot of food options, but aparagus ferns are near the top of their list.
Wow, those are gorgeous shots Sonja! I just love blues, and the color combinations in those pictures really brings it out.

Mr Bertie Wooster and Eliza Doo, napping after a dirt bath.
Bertie is a Red Cochin Bantam, Eliza a black Silkie. They were 4 months old here (hatched in April 2013).

Can anyone help with a San Diego zoning question? The SD Neighborhood Code Compliance office is telling me that my single-family dwelling in a single-family home neighborhood is NOT permitted chickens because it is zoned to also allow multi-family dwellings ("RM"). Our chicken ordinance reads...

Anyone in San Diego who can help answer: I live in a single family unit dwelling in an "RM" zone (residential, multi-family units permitted with density restrictions). This means that both single and multi-family dwellings are allowed. The city inspectors are now trying to claim that because...
