San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

My husband and I have an automatic chicken plucker and will process them for anyone who wants (we bag them and everything). He charges $7 a bird if you bring less than 10 or $5 a bird if you bring 10 or more. Just letting anyone who's interested know.

Anyone outside the city interested in a trained Cochin bantie roo?

Gorgeous, friendly little guy, 14 weeks old, unluckily in city limits. I have been clicker training him and he's quite smart (for a chicken!).

Looking for yard, not stew pot. Full posting under "Animals in Need of Free Rehoming". Clicker training lessons included!

Will you process silkies?
I know they aren't the typical chickens and doubt I will eat the meat. However, I would love to use them for chicken stock (I am sorry for all the vegetarian/ vegan reading this). I will also have a few LF layers "old" hens in the next few months (those will be eaten).

He would definitely do the older hens but is more iffy on the silkies. It's not because they're not meat birds but its hard for him to process bantams as his hands are too big to fit in the bird to remove the insides. But since you're using them for stock maybe you wouldn't mind if they weren't whole? So it really depends on how many you have and how you want them done for the silkies

I wouldn't mind at all if they aren't whole. I sent you a PM. Thank you so much :)

These guys are great they did almost 70 birds in just over an hour. It was $3.00 per bird. Very professional.

There may be Asian markets here in San Diego that do this sort of thing.

Alright fellow chicken people, I need help. My bantam cochin has been broody for **** near 4 months now. We have tried everything to no avail. I am not worried about her not laying as her eggs were teeny anyways. I just worry about her health as she doesn't come out to eat/drink much.

Is my only option to stick fertile eggs/day old chicks under her? And if I do, does anyone want the chicks, cause we are full up. She is being a bad influence as now I have a BO that won't quit brooding either. :(
