Actually it was a tarantula (Sorry I forgot to mention that

) he was a little bigger than the palm of my hand. He was huge! My husband was the only one brave enough to get a close up picture of it lol

We had one in the house a couple of days ago (maybe three days). I was talking to a neighbor yesterday and she said they had one last week. We're in Valley Center and rarely see them.

Quote: AH.... LOL. They are very very common around here. Do a good job of critter control.... Be careful handling them the hairs on their body are a natural irritant. Designed as their predator protection. I keep THOSE outside.... Hee hee.

In the spring, If you go horseback riding here in Santee in a meadow and stop your horse then defocus your eyes you will see a big black dot every twenty or thirty square feet apart. As far as you can see.

LOL supposed to taste like crab.... Im not goina.

I know this is off topic, but does anyone know of a processor in North County? I'm looking to have some birds done and I just don't have the time or room to do it correctly, myself, anymore. There is one in Valley Center, but I'm hoping for one closer to Vista and one who will process larger birds for a little less. ANY HELP would be appreciated.

You guys should be processing these excess boys, especially a nice, beefy Marans cross like that OE. If you've spent all this time and effort into raising them and feeding them a clean, organic diet, your family should reap the benefit. I have a freezer full of boys, and they are delicious.

(My apologies to those of you who are vegan/vegetarian.)

I'm a vegetarian and I agree with you. :) If we had the space we would have a bachelor grow out pen for the same purpose. Unfortunately, we live in suburban hell. :p

Not off topic at all. There are a couple of people here that do it themselves. Or have done it themselves. Plus I have seen a processor that advertises on craigslist on occasion. He sets up shop in Lakeside once or twice per month. He may set up shop in various areas.

I will check my archives and see if I can find the number. He also advertises in Riverside so check their craigs list.....
