    Waterer for Goose Pen

Goose he got stuck was a few months old. My problem with leaving them without water overnight, is I also feed them when I bring them in for the night, and so need to have water available. I'm tempted to put that bucket back in but hate to tempt fate. I may try a bucket with a lid with hole cut...

    Waterer for Goose Pen

My geese come in at night so they don't fall prey to predators. Their pen is a soggy disgusting mess due to them stepping/tipping/playing in their water pan. What would you suggest for an inside waterer? I did use a 2 gallon bucket but believe it or not a goose almost drowned in it; I walked...

    SandHill Preservation review

I had 2 bad experiences with Sandhill and won't be ordering from them again. The first time I ordered dark/white campbells. None of my preferred shipment dates were met due to problems with hatching the white campbells. When I finally received a shipment of approx 12 campbells I ordered 7...

Welsh Harlequin Crossed with Campbell Ducks

I understand that Welsh Harlequins were originally a color mutation of campbell ducks. I have dark and Khaki campbells and am interested in getting some Welsh Harlequins. If they breed together what would the offspring look like? Are there some set color patterns depending on what drake breeds...

    Raising Winter Layers-Inherited Trait?

I have tried and actually have a light on in there now. Last year it worked-within two weeks of hanging the light in January ducks started laying. I put the light in in the fall this time around and had no fall eggs.

    Raising Winter Layers-Inherited Trait?

My flock of khakis, runners and white hybrid have disappointed me this winter. All birds are between 6 months old and 2 years old. I didn't get any eggs from Mid-Aug-to the beginning of January. I now have one laying which I believe is the white hybrid (eggs are huge-each one weighing in over...

    Colorado

A trail cam-great idea! I have an IP cam I use for my goats/sheep at lambing/kidding never thought to use it with the ducks to see who is laying. At the moment if just one of my ducks would be laying I'd be ecstatic. Anyone have ideas on bringing ducks back into lay after August molt? I have...

    Ducks stopped laying eggs !

I share your pain I have 16 ducks no eggs since August. I'm in the Rockies so can't blame the heat. I have even put a light on to keep the days a little longer. I know they molted in August but they are done. I have 1 1/2 year old campbell ducks-they were laying machines until molt...it's been...

    Laying after fall molt

My campbell ducks started molt in August-I think they are about done-they look beautiful in their new attire but alas my egg basket is bare. How long does the molt usually last? Will they need light to bring them back into laying status now that the days are shorter?

Essential Oil or Natural disinfectant for eggs and incubtaor

I'm just wondering if anyone uses an essential oil disinfectant for their incubator and/or hatching eggs? Or at least a natural disinfectant? Seems so many want organic chicks it hardly seems right to be using chemicals to clean their hatching environment.

Constructing people door for the coop...

My coop door is going to end up a little shorter than off the shelf doors so I need to construct one. Does anyone have links to doors they have built? I've built various doors before but just looking for ideas for the coop door-don't know if I should go with plywood, planks, tongue and groove or...

    Doors From Coop to Yard

The yard will be a fenced area but not a totally closed in yard with roof. A slide-up door would definitely be easier to open in snow then a people door, something I hadn't thought about.
