Hatched these three last year from purchased eggs. I thought I had three peahens, but… now I’m thinking I must be blind or something? This is two peacocks and a peahen, isn’t it? 🤦♀️
I’m not very good at the Guinea fowl colors. What are these keets likely to be? I know the four dark ones are probably just pearls, but the rest? They all have stripes.
Here are picks of the parent flock
Just to update, this feeder was still in use up to last year - so about 12 years. And it's still perfectly fine - we just bought a coop with a built in feeder and I haven't needed this one again yet! I've had up to a dozen or so birds in acoop with this feeder, and it worked fine.
Post is too...
I found a quick and easy way to make the plastic bottle/mason jar feeders actually mess free!
Just find pill bottles that will squeeze into the holes, cut them in half, and slide them in! These particular pill bottles are from Walmart pharmacies in Canada, but I would expect any pill bottle...
It looks like "ivory" is supposed to be a combo of chocolate and blue. But chocolate is also supposed to be sex linked, correct? I only have a trio of phenotypically pearl adult guineas. So to have chocolate visible, wouldn't my hens HAVE to show chocolate?
Ivory certainly looks likely! I wonder what it actually is genetically?
Googling ivory guinea fowl, it looks like there's quite a bit of controversy in the Austrailian guinea fowl world, regarding what colors are "real" or not.
Got a better photo today. I’m pretty sure it will be dotted, I just don’t know what the color is 🤷♀️ My best guess thus far is buff Dundotte.
I hatched the parent birds out last year from eggs I got from someone with a mixed flock with “a bit of everything!”. Of those eggs, all the birds that...
I have 5 pearl guineas, and this one. I thought he was white, but I’ve recently noticed he still has spots on his feathers. I thought white guineas were supposed to be solid white? Is he a really light porcelain? Or something else? Or just a white with spots?
