Y’all have been amazingly helpful and I’m learning so much! But I’m back with a couple more questions. (I’ll surely be back regularly as we enter new stages) ☺️ Our muscovy ducklings, Feather and Pip are 4 weeks old now. They have lived on non-medicated crumbles that I added niacin supplement to...
Well, I am always thankful to get advice and helpful hints. Your ducks are so cute and I love the variety of colors! They went to town on that watermelon 😆 Thanks for sharing 💞
We actually hold and pet them often. For some reason they just don’t come to us on their own. Feather had recently shown a different behavior. She was swimming and Isabella had her hands in the water. Feather walked over to aggressively “bite” at my granddaughters hands. She would just grab her...
We have only tried giving treats a couple times, but we don’t give anything regularly other then their daily feed. I was hoping the treats might work for training them to come when they see us. But if that’s a bad idea then I’m glad I found out now.
We had 5 different nests from local wild muscovy behind our garage in the past. Each nest had between 16-23 eggs. I remember how shocked I was when we counted them! We had never seen a nest or been able to get so close to a duck before. 1 nest had an egg that didn’t hatch. That upset my 5 year...
Ooh I heard about watermelon! I’ll grab a couple and freeze some too 😁Thank you for the advice! We were told not to really give them lettuce but I might try broccoli heads chopped up. As for feeding schedules… mine are still young (4 weeks old) and I was also told to let them eat and drink as...
Thank you. What are the best treats? Mine don’t seem to care for frozen peas or grapes. Only blueberries seem to interest them and even then, only a couple bites before they lose interest.
Thanks for your advice and yes, they are double in size already and growing much too fast. We think they are 1 male and 1 female because the size difference is quite noticeable. They don’t follow us or even come near us anymore and that upsets my 7 year old granddaughter since she has cuddled...
Thank you so much! The feed has niacin but it doesn’t say the amount so I have been adding supplements since they were a day old. I’m in Florida so our temps are fine but drops a bit at night so I’m going to wait a few more weeks before relocating them outdoors. The baking pan… omg great idea...
I actually have a kiddie pool, but still need an enclosure for safety. We have hawks, coyote and snakes often and I don’t even know what else would try to eat them ☹️
Wow thank you so much for answering all my questions 😊 I have a lot to learn, but we are very excited to watch Feather and Pip explore and grow with our family.
