Speckled Sussex sounds like she’s “knocking on the door”???!!

My husband and I were at the coop, feeding and petting all the chickens. I thought he was tapping on the wood, like knocking on a door, three rapid taps. He said he wasn’t. We realized one of our Speckled Sussex was making the noise! I’ve tried to research it, but can’t find anything. The only...

    Coop calculations with run

I’m getting ready to start my coop. I’ve seen many posts on the size needed, but I’m still a little confused. I plan on adding a run that’s 16’. Chickens will only be in coop at night. My confusion is, the calcuations I see are for coop and run or coop alone? What size should it be for 6-8...

    Florida Chicken Mama

I finally did it! I’ve wanted to for a long time! I have six babies and may add 2 more! 2 Australorp, 2 Red Star and 2 Speckled Sussex. I have a seventh baby, who turned out to be a rooster and I can’t have him in town. So bummed. He’s a Crevecoeur. All black with head feathers like a...
