Yes, hatch time was about 4 days longer then expected, there was not a parent common to them, 6 different hens 2 different roos, 1 roo with each set of 3 hens, eggs that hatched the spraddled ones were from both groups.
So out of 26 eggs and all the temperature problems, 6 eggs hatched. Of the 6, three had no problems, the other 3 are spraddle leg. Tried hobbling them with bandaids but it didn't work. I have now lost all 3 of those. I am wondering what caused it? They weren't all out of any specific breed and...
I won't be able to make the Walker swap this time, there is a rabbit show the same day in Waterloo. Does Walker have swaps the second Sunday of each month?
Just when I was ready to give up... I came up to check the incubator and I have a chick! I also have another pipped! It is so hard not to open the incubator during lockdown especially when they are hatching!
So I am now on day 23, candled as I went into lockdown, everyone looked viable. I have no moving eggs, no pips, no nothing...in 3 days I will do eggtopsies if nothing hatches...
Just set 30 more home mixed into the bator...this is the second incubator, the first is in lockdown and will be used for lockdowns as this one doesn't have the mesh "floor".
This batch will be interesting to watch as I had to clean several of the eggs and some are almost 3 weeks old. I had to...
Out of 30 that started, 26 went into lockdown this morning! Now to wait.....
oesdog I am so sorry you had a let down, try again,
I will be jumping in for next month. I just set another 30.
Tonight(Monday) comes final candling and lockdown....temp climbed to 104 today...grr, got it back down but don't know how long it was up. Thinking it is a sure sign something is still alive and growing.
Hoping for at least a 20% hatch rate.
I have a batch ready to put in the bator but have a few...
Don't give up yet! With no pips it is safe ti try candling again. My first ever hatch didn't go until day twenty six. I was ready to give up but candled and saw movement so I waited a little longer.
Day 12, candled for the first time and in spite of the 112 degree spike in temperature on the first day all of my eggs show veining and movement! I am so pleased! My incubator (an LG Still Air) stays between 100 and 102 degrees.
