Feather loss and dry, wrinkled skin

I'll remove the wood ash. Any suggestions on how to help get their skin looking better?

Yes, they have plenty of water. I have only added wood ash to their dust bath.

Feather loss and dry, wrinkled skin

I have 6 hens, 4 of them have been losing feathers mainly on their neck. I've checked for lice and mites and am not finding anything. At first I thought it was just molting but may be part of the issue. 2 of the hens were broody (1 is still broody), so I was thinking they were plucking feathers...

    Silkie Chick Eye Infection?

I am on the east coast and weather is all over the place. We had extremely cold weather, then had a few warm days, but it’s getting cold again. No mite issues. I’ll try the warm compressor an eye wash to try to see if I see anything above the eyes.

    Silkie Chick Eye Infection?

Hello, I am hoping that someone can help me. I've searched the forums and am still not sure what is going on with one of my 3 week old silkies. The chick is out in the coop with mama and siblings. I noticed yesterday that the chick was just standing there and not running around like the other 2...

Thank you! I’ll try some of those ideas to see if it helps.

Integrating 2 week old silkies with 3 week old silkies

Thank you for your reply! Their are 2 (1 from each batch) that will peck others on the head out of nowhere. One of them will also try to pull crown feathers of the one they just pecked. Sometimes it is 3 or 4 pecks with the crown pulling. However, the two most “aggressive” seemed to get in...

Integrating 2 week old silkies with 3 week old silkies

I apologize if this question is redundant but I’ve searched and searched to find a similar post. I had 3, 1.5 week old silkies and then got 3, 2-3 week old silkie chicks. For the first couple days, I had each group in separate bins (not able to see each other) so that the new old chicks could...

    Fertile Egg?

So would the white dot be bigger? And is that what would appear as the bullseye? I have looked at so many pictures of fertile vs non-fertile eggs, I still have no idea.

    Fertile Egg?

Does this egg look fertilized? I thought I had 8 hens, but maybe 1 is a rooster?

Neighbor uses permethrin fog for tick control

Thank you for your response. I've been talking with my neighbors and think they may consider stopping the service. We used to get our yard sprayed, but stopped a couple years ago due to not wanting chemicals in our yard. However, we do have a LOT of ticks, so much so that it makes it difficult...

Neighbor uses permethrin fog for tick control

My next door neighbor gets their yard fogged/sprayed by a pest control company once a month for tick control. I am a new chicken owner and our coop is close to the property line. Will this fog be dangerous to my chickens? We haven't moved the chickens outside yet since they just turned 5 weeks...

    New Chicken Owner

Good Morning, I am a new chicken owner. We currently have 8 - 5 week old chicks. We have a variety of breeds, included buff orphingtons, barred rock, red star, amber stars, speckled sussex and an ameraucana. My family and I have been wanting to raise chickens for sometime and now are able to do...
