    Your chicks should be okay. I have 3 Wels small, medium, and large all from the same hatch. My small one became the biggest one while my medium became the runt of the group. So just give them time to grow and see how they turn out. Either way you'll have some laying hens.

    Are you using chicken wire in your run or coop? That could be a problems with small chicks they usually stick their head out. It's not the smoothest wire for baby chicks.     Should be normal my barred rock drop 2 non shell eggs within 5 minutes. The next day she laid a regular egg with shell. This is her first batch and I'm very happy with her consistency.

    I have the same problem with my chicks. The first thing I did was divide the feeding area from the bedding.     black mold in brooder!

    You can use bleach (90% water and 10% bleach) as a temporary solution, but mold will grow sooner or later. Making sure it air dry before you place your chicks back in. It's best to replace the wood and have some ventilation in your brooder.
