I ordered 6 white barred rock hens from Meyer - 2 ended up being roosters. Wasn’t happy as I already had a Rooster and only 21 hens. Although the shipping and care was excellent…one rooster mistake I can understand, but not 2.
Out of 16 chickens, one rooster, I have one barred rock with featherless red bottom. All other hens are normal (well minus the rooster causing some feather loss on backs). Plenty of space, good food, etc, no infestation. What could be the cause?
If it happens again I will get pic. I immediately cleaned it as the red was attracting all the chickens to look. I do have a camera in the coop, but I don’t check in the middle of the night. I’ll keep an eye on them and continue looking for cause. it must be something I can’t easily see.
Hello-I found a large circular blood smear on coop wall slightly above roost where a chickens butt rubs at night this morning. I see no injured chickens, no feet issues, no butt issues, all acting like healthy chickens. They all are 5 months old, a couple just started laying young eggs. Black...
