Mimi and Trixi's sisters at another ranch started laying and I was still waiting. I finally decided to worm them, thinking the whole flock (5) wasn't laying and were looking thin. Boom! 4 days later I got my first egg, Now I'm getting two a day, but have to throw them out because of the...
They're about 24 weeks now. These two ladies love to run and chase each other when we first let them out in the morning. They fly about 10 feet as they come out of the coop, granted it's only about a foot off the ground. I'm still waiting for their first eggs. Our other girls are molting, so...
Here are my 17 week GLWs Trixi and Mimi. Mimi was severely henpecked. She's all healed up, but her neck is still pretty naked in the back.

Vintage Chick, I'm dying to know about Reese and Rolo. My Mimi and Trixi still lok about the same so I'm hopeful they are hens. They'll be 17 weeks tomorrow. I'll try to get new pictures today.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I hope you're wrong. Their shoulder feathers aren't as pointy as it looks. The orange part is pointed, but the feathers themselves are more rounded. If out of the eight I raised, the two I kept turn out to be roos I'll just scream!
I had 8, but was only fostering 6 and keeping 2. The 6 have moved to their new home. They are 11 weeks old. Trixi got hen pecked a few weeks ago by my big hens. She's healing nicely, but looks a little rough on the back of her neck. The only other difference I see is Trixi has more "gold"...
I have 4 breeds and only 5 chickens. I like getting different colored eggs. It makes it easy to know who's laying and who's not. I have:
Ameraucana
Barred Rock
Olive Egger
And two Golden Laced Wyandotte chicks
My Golden Laced Wyandottes are 6 weeks old. I have suspicions about one or two. I have eight altogether. Good luck with yours. I'll be posting pictures soon.
When I had a rooster, my chickens took themselves to bed. Now without a rooster I have to make them go. I toss freeze dried meal worms into the coop and they run right in. Whenever I go out back with the meal worm container, the girls come running.
My puppy is about 6 months old now. She can't be left loose with the chickens unattended because she pulls the tail feathers of her favorite hen. When we're out to supervise they do fine. She herds them around the yard, but I don't know how to train her to put them where I want them. I wish...
I have three hens - a barred rock, an olive egger, and an ameraucana. Zeke, the barred rock, is friendly and outgoing. She eats out of my hand, loves the granddaughters, and she gives me a lovely brown egg every day. If she wants to lay an egg and someone is in "her" egg box she squawks and...
