I finally got a pic of her standing. Never mind her feathers that is just where she got into the egg yoke. She gets around by flapping her wings and walking like she is in pic.
It is raw yolk. When i clean her cage today I am going to try and sit her in some warm water and clean her up. Then put her under the heat lamp to dry. I know a good bath always makes me feel better when i feel bad.
I started giving her Rooster Booster yesterday also. She is in good spirits, eats and drinks. She still gets around in her cage on what I call her knees and flapping her wings.
Bless her little peeper heart. She got into the yoke today while I was at work and now has it all over her. Will it hurt to put her warm water? I have never given a chicken a bath before.
I have not heard of either of those. i will do some research into them at the library today. I did go ahead and put an egg yoke in for her this morning.
Chick is eating and drinking. I followed Cyprus's idea and processed carrots in the blender and she ate some. Has been three days now, she is not any worse or better. I will go to town tomorrow and get some chick vitamins and see if that helps. I do appreciate everyone's advice and help.
Not any better. I have determined that it is not both legs and feet, just the right side. If I pick her up she can move her foot and leg, she just cannot walk on it. She appears to be in good health other wise. She gets around putting her weight on the right side on the tibia.
My two week Brahma chick suddenly cannot stand or walk. She does not act sick such as hanging her head or rolled back eyes. Other than cannot walk she appears normal. She is the same size as her sisters. Her feet are not curled, does not appear to be straddled legged.
I have separated her for...
As wonderful as that would be for the chicks, I can stomach a lot of things but maggots are not one of them. I may try and see if they will have a handful as a treat, if not I will give the remainder to a friend that has horses and goats. Thanks for the reply.
My baby chicks range between one and half weeks to three weeks old. I feed them starter food. I have a 50 lb bag of horse pellets and 50 lb bag of goat, horse, and cow pellets that I now have no need for. Can I mash it up and give them a little with their starter feed everyday? I hate to waste it.
I have the same problem. I fenced in about an acre of great shade woody area. During the summer the girls will not be too hot and can scratch around for bugs and worms in the fallen leaves. I would like to plant something to provide some greenery over the winter. Any suggestions? I live in North...
Hi All,
I am not new to chickens but just getting back into them. My husband and I had chickens for several years. He had to have hip surgery and could not help me take care of them. We had to find a new home for the girls.
I spent months building this pasture that I was going to put goats in...
