Thank you! He was very dehydrated. I’ve isolated him with easy to reach food and water. I’ve been giving vitamins. I’ll search as you suggested.

    Lame baby chick

I’ve got a Dominique/silkie with a lame left foot. I believe he is a rooster, about 5 weeks old. He’s very active and strong otherwise, seems healthy. They are housed in a coop, closed off from the big birds for now. I’m feeding them organic chick starter. The have pine shavings in their coop...

*UPDATE* Jo passed away this afternoon. She appeared to be sleeping peacefully. I’m blessed to have been her chicken mama. Thank you to all who reached out with advice. I’ve learned more about my sweet feathered friends in the last 24 hours than I have in the 4 years I’ve cared for them...

    Dying chicken?? Help!!

I’ve tried giving some dissolved Tums as I believe this may be the only thing that’ll help. I can’t feel an egg. Maybe she is hypocalcemic and in shock? I’m here with her, praying for a miracle.

    Dying chicken?? Help!!

There is still mucus coming from her vent. What does this mean? Obvious answer to me would be some sort of infection. Is mucus commonly seen in an egg bound chicken?

    Dying chicken?? Help!!

I’m not flushing anymore. I never flushed aggressively. Abdomen feels ok. Crop is not palpable. When I open her beak, it’s like clear slime.

    Dying chicken?? Help!!

I’m trying to get tums into her but she’s not swallowing. She won’t lift her head or open her eyes. I pulled her from the tub as soon as she started dropping her head.
