First egg from either Tetra Tints or Gold Comets!! They were all born March 29, 2011. That makes them around 18 weeks. Isn't that a little early? The bigger eggs are from our year old sex links.

Mixed cracked corn and oats with leftover medicated chick feed????

Whewww! We will resolve the food issue first thing in the morning! The chicks will go back to chick feed! They have access to sand but I don't want to give them anything that's not good for them. Are the older hens ok with the scratch? We also mix in oyster shell. Thanks for your help!!

Mixed cracked corn and oats with leftover medicated chick feed????

I mixed 50 lb cracked corn and oats with about 15 lb of medicated chick feed and started feeding new 1 year olds and 7 week olds. I just read a post that said layers should not eat medicated feed. Why not? What will it do? I just gave a dozen eggs to hubby's grandma.....

From looking at their feathers when they were 2 days old I think it may be a roo?? Anyway.... looks like we'll be keeping him. I was wondering if...

    Height of nest boxes?

Hi all.... Wondering if nest boxes need to be raised off the floor of the coop...if so, how high? How high does the roost need to be? And finally, what the heck is a poop board? We are brand new to this chicken business and we have 12 peeps that will soon need a home outside of my computer room...

WTH is wrong with TSC? Chick purchasing nightmare.

Same with my TSC in Maryland. When they first brought the chicks out this year they were in open bins but the last week or so they have been locked up tighter than Fort Knox! They guys at my TSC are super nice though. He picked up every single chick the other day untill I had the ones I wanted...

Thank's so much for the info..... Will they do it on their own or do you just not collect eggs for awhile and they start hatching?
